of rectangular form, the cusped top finely and deeply carved with a shaped cartouche enclosing figures in a bustling town scene, all within a leafy peony band, each of the straight sides profusely carved with figures in a landscape and supported on a protruding base and four rounded feet
Condition
The box has a 7cm crack on the base, traces of glue remain between where the individual components are slotted together to form the box. The lid is slightly dislocated so the box cannot be fully closed, the key. Apart from minor nicks to the extremities and nibbling along the edges, the box is in otherwise good condition. The original key is still with the box. The ivory is of a slightly warmer golden yellow tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
