of well-potted form, the slightly cylindrical body surmounted by a columnar neck with galleried rim, richly decorated in gilding on the overall brilliant blue ground, with circular and foliate-shaped panels each enclosing landscapes, flowers and passages of prose, all in reserve on a gilt ground itself reserved with a dense scrolling floral pattern and lotus flowers, a band of lappets around the base, a floral frieze reserved with vignettes with scholars' objects encircling the angled shoulders, the neck decorated with stylized shou character medallions between narrow formal bands

Condition

There is a fine star-crack to the base to one side of the base running approximately 3 in. by 1 1/2 in. There is some slight wear to the gilding particularly around the lower body and shoulder. There is some very minor fritting to the rim edge. Otherwise, in good condition.
