Manuscript on vellum, 4to (9 x 6 3/8 in.; 228 x 162 mm). [14] leaves, half-title written in gold with blue penwork infill, title with large initial "A" and miniature (4 1/2 x 2 in.; 114 x 50 mm) of a Pre-Raphaelite woman in a white diaphanous gown in a three-quarter floral border in full color on a gold ground, first text leaf in a full floral border, alternating blue and red initials, some with gold infill, secondary lines with red initials, illuminated initial and tailpiece on last page. Teal blue crushed morocco decorated in a panel design, wide double-fillet border, the outer frame of inlaid brown morocco with gilt-stamped flowers and leaves alternating with 3 rules, the central panel filled with small inlaid red-morocco roses and densely tooled clusters of leaves, surround a central four-leaf flower with 8 turquoise and a garnet on a red inlaid-morocco ground and 4 garnets surrounded by gold dots, gilt-ruled turn-ins, edges gilt, signed in gilt "Illuminated and Bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, London," in a black straight-grain morocco case, lined with watered silk and plush, with clasps; edges of the case torn.

One of the masterpieces designed and painted by Alberto Sangorski (1862-1932), one of the great artists in the illumination and decoration of books, elder brother of the binder Francis Sangorski (1875-1912).
