Title-pages printed in red and black, photogravure frontispiece portrait of Edgar Williamson printed on india paper and mounted on heavier stock, 9 color plates of flies, 18 plates of color charts, 16 photogravures of fish and angling spots on india paper mounted on heavier stock, 22 text illustrations, second volume with 33 flies dressed by Hardy Bros. and Farlow displayed in sunken compartments on 9 heavy board mounts; half titles; a little browning to edges of mounts. Publisher's half maroon calf, top edges gilt;  joints rubbed on both vols., upper joint starting on vol.1, loss to leather to head of spine of same, calf corners a little rubbed or scuffed. Felt-lined slipcase.

(9 7/8 x 6 ½ in; 245 x 165 mm). 65 half-tone photographic plates tipped to captioned leaves, numerous text illustrations and diagrams, 30 specimens of flies in a sunken mount affixed to the rear pastedown under plastic window, with index of flies printed on tissue and hinged to the mount; layers of the card mount splayed, outer corners of mount slightly crushed. Full blue morocco, gilt armorial of the Lonsdale Library on upper cover, plain, unprinted blue dustwrapper and original publisher's card box with printed paper label; minor spotting to deckle edges, lower cover slightly spotted, jacket with closed tears, box splitting at one corner.
