Catalogue Note
Parker specialised in 'plaster casts of elegant subjects' according to the heading of a 1774 invoice he sent to Josiah Wedgewood for casts of a Zingara, a Vestal and a Pug Dog (all untraced). The letter also mentions that his workshop was based 'opposite the new church in the Strand', which is confirmed by the inscription on the underside of this bust.
