Condition

Overall the condition of the wood is good, with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age and handling. There are a number of small losses throughout, including at the joints, at the edges and to the rear left corner. There is stable splitting throughout, consistent with the material, including at the rear right foot. There is evidence of past worming throughout, some of which has been filled, including to the top of the lid. Some of the joints are slightly open, but stable, including those to the sides and top of the lid. The casket appears to have been stripped and regilded in the past. The later lining is in good condition with minor dirt and wear. The frame on the interior of the lid may be later. The feet have been reattached and may be associated. The hinges may be later.
