Condition

Overall the condition is very good with some minor wear to the surface consistent with age including a scratch to the back of the shirt. There is a loss to the strap attached to the hook on the rock. The cord hanging from the boy's hand has become detached from the net at his feet. There is some minor dirt to the surface.

Catalogue Note

Romano Scheggi was the youngest member of a family of sculptors originating from Settignano. They officially established a firm in 1797 to produce both original sculptures and copies after the antique. The firm continued up until 1930.
