Condition
The canvas is not relined but has been striplined along the left tacking edge. There are some strokes of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably along 2 interlocking repaired tears in the leftmost monk (patched on the reverse), a 4 by 0.5cm stroke in the right of the sky, and a minor stroke above the road. There is a 4cm unrepaired tear with paint flaking in St Francis' back (visible in the catalogue illustration).
