Condition
This painting is in very good condition overall. Under ultraviolet light, there are approximately eight oval and circular areas of inpainting, with a few attendant more minute spots, in the upper section and the upper right edge of the outer yellow square, ranging in size from ¾ to 1 ¾ in. in diameter. In the upper right of the light gray third square from the center, there is a scattered, more linear arrangement of small inpainting, located 17 ½ to 18 ¼ inches from the top and approximately 7 in. from the right. These restorations are all well-matched as to color. The painting is framed in an aluminum strip frame. There are a few areas in the white primer outer edge where there is slight wear from the frame, but as this is the typical frame for Albers' paintings, this is very typical of his work.
