The drawing is in good condition; no tear visible; two very minor stains in the lower part; one trace of the Carpeaux stamp on the upper right hand part and one trace of an inscription in the lower part.

Il s'agit probablement du second fils de Carpeaux, Louis-Victor, né le 21 janvier 1874. Il eut une carrière militaire qui le fit beaucoup voyager. Il publia ses récits de voyage.
Il existe un Portrait de Louis Carpeaux peint par son père en 1874 (cf. Catalogue de l'exposition Carpeaux Peintre, Paris, 1999 - 2000, p.235, n°249).
