Illustration is slightly too orange.
Good overall condition.
Veneer in good condition except very minor cracks on the Chinese pattern.
As expected some stains on the silk panels.
Lovely and rare piece of furniture.

En novembre 1768, Poirier livre à madame du Barry un paravent de ce type décrit ainsi : un paravent à coulisses en bois massif découpé à jour, les châssis à [ ?] et garnis en beau papier des Indes à magots... 192 l (voir Wildenstein dans Gazette des Beaux Arts 1862, vol. II, p. 365-377). À la mort de Louis XV, il est déménagé de Versailles à Louveciennes où il est décrit en bois de rose (un paravent de bois de rose de 3 pieds de haut garni en papier de la Chine).
Un paravent similaire, à cinq feuilles, avec des motifs géométriques ajourés dans le bas (cercles et losanges), attribué à Jean-François Leleu a été vendu à Paris, hôtel Drouot, le 15 juin 1985, lot 78 ; un autre de forme identique, à quatre feuilles également et avec la marque du château de Chanteloup, s'est vendu à Paris, hôtel Drouot, étude Piasa, le 26 mars 1999, lot 64. On citera un paravent estampillé de Canabas conservé au musée des Arts décoratifs de Lyon ; il est illustré dans P. Verlet, Les meubles français du XVIIIe siècle, Paris, 1982, fig. 33.
