Description

carved as a cross-section of a lotus flower with low-relief flowers, veined and insect-eaten leaves, all beneath a russet-coloured skin, the box of conforming shape

Condition

Apart from a few age cracks the overall condition is quite good. The mouthrim is made from smaller sections of hardwood and originally covered with lacquer. The lacquer has worn off in patches around the mouth, revealing the smaller sections.
