each with gently rounded sides rising from a short tapering foot to an everted rim, covered overall in a soft muted-green glaze, the white-glazed base inscribed with a six-character reign mark within a double-square

Collection formed in the 1950s by Alexander Lambert Hood, 7th Viscount Hood, with the guidance of John Sparks Ltd.

Condition

This pair of dishes are in very good overall condition with the exception of a slight warp to one, and minor surface scratches and tiny iron spots to the glaze of the interior and exterior.

See a fine celadon-glazed dish of this form and size, from the Hall Family collection and included in the Oriental Ceramic Society exhibition The Arts of the Ch'ing Dynasty, London, 1964, cat. no. 273, sold in these rooms, 2nd May 2000, lot 544; and another Yongzheng mark and period dish of this type sold in our London rooms, 4th November 2009, lot 112.
