Condition

A. In fair condition, losses to the edges, mainly on the right hand side, tear and loss on the left hand edge, losses to centre right section, spots of staining, rubbing and flaking, as viewed. B. In fair condition, frayed edges with loss, minor tears and creasing around the central horizontal axis, central axis with paper reinforcement on the reverse, rubbing throughout, as viewed.

Catalogue Note

The two items are as follows:

A: Madanmohanji, Nathadwara, Rajasthan, mid-19th century.
B: A Shiva shrine, Southern India, 19th century. This image appears to be a drawing of an actual temple, and shows Shiva and Parvati with Nandi, supported on a lotus pedestal with a Shiva Lingam to the right and an image of Ganesh to the left. A separate sheet of paper is attached to the reverse with invocations inscribed in ink.
