A: Patch of surface staining at lower left, some fraying and one tear at upper edge. B: Some mild staining and surface abrasion. Edges slightly frayed. As viewed.

Catalogue Note

The portraits are as follows:
A: Portrait of a maharaja smoking a hookah, inscription at top edge "iyn-eh taswir thakur zorawar singh" ("this is a likeness of Thakur Zorawar Singh"), Marwar, mid 18th century. (Zorawar Singh was the ruler of Bikaner 1736-45, although this drawing does not resemble him closely). Reverse with an outline tracing of a portrait of a seated ruler, 18th century.
B: Portrait of princely youth, Jodhpur or Nagaur, mid 18th century.
