  • Ink and Gold on Paper
text: surah al-'asr (CIII), part of verse 3, the last verse of the surah; surah al-humaza (CIV), verse 1 to end of verse 4
Arabic manuscript on pink paper, 5 lines to the page written in large, bold Maghribi script, letter pointing (i'jam) and vocalisation in gold, verses separated by illuminated roundels containing 'abjad letters in blue, white and red, recto with a surah heading in gold against a blue ground within a strapwork border, leading to an illuminated medallion extending into the margin

Condition

in fair overall condition, marginal repairs on all sides, losses with associated repair throughout, colours and gold bright but with some rubbing and stains, as viewed.
