Arabic manuscript on paper, 305 leaves, 15 lines to the page, written in black naskh script, verses separated by gold florets, tenth verses marked in the margins with the word 'ashr', surah headings in white within gold ground cartouches, marginal illuminations comprising polychrome floral bouquets bound with geometric interlace, illuminated double-page frontispiece with an entirely gold ground punched with cintimani motifs, opening two surahs enclosed within compositions of floral bouquets, sprays and leaves in the rococo style, stamped green leather doublures and brown morocco binding with gilt trellis decoration and borders, with flap

Condition

In very good overall condition, colours and gold bright, pages clean and ink strong, some very mild rubbing to the binding, some tears to the inside spine, as viewed.

Catalogue Note

The scribe Hafiz Abdullah al-Helim al-Bursavi (a successor of Ibrahim al-Sevki), is better known as Khawajah Mashq, and the colophon states that he wrote this Qur'an in the library of the Hazarat Shahana preparatory school in Bursa. The colophon also states that the scribe resided at the Dar Al-Sultanah Al-'Ulya.
