Condition
Executed on cream laid paper, laid down on thin cardboard. There is a small remnant of an old mount on the upper edge. A close inspection reveals two minor nicks to the surface of the work, on the figure's left forearm and right wrist, and some small stains of studio dirt towards the centre of the left edge (as visible in the catalogue illustration). There is a faint watermark, possibly inherent to the artistic process, visible in the lower part of the composition. Apart from some general time-staining, mostly along the edges, and some small scattered spots of foxing this work is in good condition.
