Condition
The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is softer in the original. Colours are very fresh.
The work is in fairly good condition and is executed on a buff-coloured sheet of paper laid-down on panel. Along the four edges of the work, wear and surface scratches are visible when the work is unframed.

Front : signed; gouache on paper laid-down on chipboard. Executed in 1948. Back : red and black felt-tip pens on chipboard. Executed circa 1962-1963.
"C'est dommage qu'il n'y ait pas de mots correspondant à accordéonneux pour désigner le peintre et l'écrivain que je suis, il faudrait les inventer. Je suis accordéonneux (au sens propre) aussi. Un accordéonneux ne saurait cesser d'être un manuel même s'il le voulait aussi il serait imprudent que je mette ma culotte de velours cotelé aux enchères même si ça me permettait de vivre quelque temps..."
