Description

  • An Egyptian Wood Ushabti of a Servant of the god Min
  • Wood
  • Height 9 1/16 in. 23 cm.
his hands crossed over his chest, and wearing a tripartite wig, the lower part of the body carved with eight lines of inscription.

Provenance

Merton Simpson Gallery, New York, 1970s

Condition

Very much as shown---there are a few large shallow surface chips on the wig, the back with a long check in the wood, natural flaws, and chipped areas, abrasions overall, note flaw on the proper left wig lappet, front of feet missing, nose and face rubbed and abraded, but it reads well and is finely done. The surface stained brown in modern times it seems.
