  • An Attic Red-figure Chous Oinochoe, attributed to the Painter of Ferrara T 271
  • Terracotta
  • Height 7 5/8 in. 19.4 cm.
decorated with a satyr seated on an amphora wreathed with ivy and holding a thyrsos and drinking-horn, and flanked by two maenads, one holding a thyrsos, the other a sprig of ivy, egg- and-dot bands above and below the scene.

Provenance

Mr. and Mrs. Paul K. Stahnke, Virginia, acquired in Florence in 1946
then by descent to the present owner

Condition

Foot chipped in two places, figures worn, small area of misfiring below figure at far left, area of pitting between two figure at right, minor losses to glaze on rim and handle.
