Condition

Canvas is not lined (two small 'dabs' of gesso-like substance on reverse--correspond with lower center and lower right in front--look like small patches) SURFACE: in generally good condition; craquelure throughout (work is painted with thick impasto)-- a small horizontal area of cupping (about 3 in. long) at upper center (just at top of Columbus statue) where flaking may be imminent UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: no apparent inpainting
