the everted rims formed of openwork scrolling classical foliage, the tops applied with standing anthemia flanked by scrolls, the centers engraved with contemporary monograms, spirally fluted baluster stems, domed bases overlaid with acanthus and palmettes

Catalogue Note

Paulding Farnham designed a large centerpiece in this style for the Paris Exposition of 1900, sold Sotheby's, New York, January 20, 1998 (The Masco Collection), lot 42 and now at the Dallas Museum of Art.  Another version, completed in 1904, is illustrated by John Loring in Tiffany's 150 Years, pp. 124-5.
