Catalogue Note
"In recent years, there has been an orgy of signs, all superimposed on each other. A lot of painting has been done for the sake of painting, super-abundant and superficial, with the underlying idea that the return to the image could be interpreted as a return to unconventional freedom. [...] Art is never a superficial means to an end, nor is it a question of giving your all and just letting the poetry flow. Art is always an exploration of language." (the artist cited in Eduardo Cicelyn, "The Black Light of the Sign", in Paladino, Edizioni Charta, Milano 1995, p. 107)
