Catalogue Note
The Bauhausbücher ("Bauhaus books") were published between 1925 and 1930 under the editorial direction of Walter Gropius and László Moholy-Nagy.
The set offered here was assembled over time by James Prestini, the influential modernist woodturner and professor of architecture at the University of California, Berkeley. He is responsible for the four contemporary bindings and thirteen custom-made slipcases. The first volume bears an inscription by Walter Gropius, and was formerly in the collection of Richard Neutra.
