The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc: This painting is in lovely condition. The canvas has never been removed from its original stretcher. The canvas is well stretched but slightly wavy in the center of the right side. The paint layer is varnished but may be slightly dirty under the present varnish, nonetheless no further restoration is recommended. Under ultraviolet light there is a series of small spots of restoration visible in the hair of both girls. There is a three and a half inch horizontal restoration in the red scarf of the girl on the right addressing what seems to be a defect of some kind. Elsewhere there are a few tiny retouches addressing some scratches in the lower right and lower center but other than a few spots in the right sleeve of the girl in red, there are no other restorations.
