Condition

A section of Minerva's helmet has broken off, and is now missing. There is a visible loss to Minerva's right hand, in the original model there would have been a flower. The shield on her left arm is a smaller version than in the original model, and is possibly a later replacement- the flat area on her left hand indicates that it would have been covered by a larger element at one time. Some reins have become detached. A small hook on the right side of the horse on the far right does not serve any purpose, and is not present on the original model. These inconsistencies with the original model are what suggest that the present lot is an unauthorized casting. Surface dirt, tarnishing and oxidation points to gilt bronze surface is consistent with age.
