Catalogue Note
Linke title: Commode Louis XV.
It is difficult to be certain of an exact date for this commode, made with or without a swing mirror, and either with a marble top or inlaid marquetry top. In his Book François Linke, Christopher Payne shows a photograph of the Arabella Huntington house in New York, built in 1883 (pl. 249). This shows a similar commode to the present lot, together with the matching bed, archive number 282, as part of a seven-piece bedroom suite. The last date on the green registre appears to be a table de nuit made for Mr. Collens in 1924, together with a commode.
