in the Renaissance style, comprising a cabinet, a center table and four chairs, the upper structure of the cabinet fitted with two doors opening to one shelf and above two small drawers, the lower section fitted with a frieze drawer above two doors and one shelf, all with penwork ivory inlaid decorations.



 

Condition

Overall in poor condition, with extensive cracks to carcass and chips to edges of each piece of the cabinet. The cabinet is lacking the finial to the toupie of the crest, and with visible restoration and replacement of square blocks of toupie. There are some losses of ivory inlay. The chairs are also with extensive scratches, each showing traces of mildew uplifting to ivory inlay with losses. One chair's backrest is cracked, and the cracks run along vertically to one baluster shaped turned element. The table is showing a large horizontal crack from the top left to right, also with extensive chips and losses to ivory. Traces of mildew to stretcher and legs, one leg has a large vertical crack and loss of timber, now showing a 1/4 inch wide by 4 inch long loss.
