the board on wood plateau with enameled plaques at the sides and figures at the corners in front of scrolling foliage mounted with turquoises and pearls, the top lifting to store the pieces, one side enameled in light green coats, the bases painted with green foliage on white and set with garnets; the other side enemeled dark green and set with opals, the Kings and Queens with red cloaks

Provenance

Judge Roy Hofheinz (1912-1982), Mayor of Houston, part owner of the RIngling Brothers Circus, and one of the developers of Astroturf.  He was insturmental in creating Houston's Major League Baseball franchise.

Condition

a crack to enamel panel on each side of board, one light green castle with chips and enamel loss, one turquoise on a board corner mount with crack, otherwise good
