- 118cm. high, 54cm. wide, 20cm. deep; 3ft.10in., 1ft.9in., 8in.
with a cresting in the form of a cupola above two addorsed cornucopia flanking an enamel dial with a female face within a roundel above a white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals with a domed glass cover, the sides with a ribbon-tied grotesque mask suspending cornucopia in the form of laurel swags with a pierced, silk-lined cover to back cast with guilloche, on a shaped plinth base with neo-classical urn finials, the front mounted with a roundel enclosing a blue & white plaque depicting satyrs and a goat, on toupie feet; with two keys, the 9¾-inch enamel dial with concentric alarm and date dials and surmounted by an enamel moon dial, the three train movement with rare Chevalier de Bethune escapement and silk suspension, grande sonnerie striking on two bells, the alarm train acting on the hour bell
Condition
Cover restored. Old very minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age and some hairline cracks generally. Very attractive detail to carving. Some very minor cracks around winding holes to dial. Handles to dial possibly replaced. The minute hands differ in colour. Some very minor retouching in places. The bow above the swag on left projecting demi-lune and on right one, together with a section of swag are missing, but these are not too noticeable. Some hairline construction cracks which can easily be left or filled. A section of one of the feet is missing. The two rear feet differ to the rest. In overall good condition.
