Description

  • gilt-bronze
  • each approx: 28cm. high; 11in.
each with two scrolled candlearms entwined with leaves, flowers and cast with  c -scrolls, now with later circular leaf cast wall brackets; formerly fitted for electricity

Condition

Very attractive detail to casting. The pink copper is showing through. There is some minor surface dirt which can easily be cleaned off. There is a small area on the left candlearm of one which is lacking its gilding, but this can easily be regilded. One of the candlearms has verde gris which can easily be cleaned off. The presence of prickets is highly unusual and a very attractive feature. The loops for the candlearms to slot in appear to be period, but the backplates are probably later. The underside of the internal fitting within the nozzle on some of them have Roman numerals III II I XX, X. A most attractive set in overall good condition.
