The canvas is original and is undulating slightly, which appears to be the result of it being slightly loose in the stretcher. There are two small repairs to the canvas. The first is three by two centimetres in size and is located in the sky in the upper right quadrant. The second is above the water in the lower right quadrant and is one by two centimetres in size. There is a further pin size hole above the signature in the lower left hand quadrant. There are a few very minor abrasions with resultant paint loss in the lower left corner and along the right edge. There are two very minor abrasions at the very centre of the work. Under ultraviolet light, there appear to be several scattered flecks of retouching, mainly to the sky, and an area to the aforementioned repair in the sky.
