Catalogue Note
A complete copy of the first edition of Schedel's comprehensive yet partial history of the world, one of the most richly illustrated works from the incunabular period. Schedel, who owned one of the largest private libraries of the age, cobbled the text together indiscrimately from various sources but the fame of this work rests on its production and appearance, the numerous (though repeated) illustrations and the elegant mise-en-page.
