Catalogue Note

A near fine copy in cloth of the one of the prolific Irish-American novelist's most celebrated tales.

Sadleir notes that "the publishing history of The Headless Horseman is obscure. Mayne Reid's widow gives no information nor does the Bentley Private Catalogue state why the book was taken over from Messrs Chapman & Hall" (p.305).
