Catalogue Note
An immaculate copy of the first edition of the author's monumental masterpiece, considered by many the greatest novel of the twentieth century. Volume 1, printed at Proust's own expense, is the first issue with "1913" on the upper wrapper and "1914" on the title-page, Grasset's name in the imprint with the vertical type between the "e" and the "t", and with the colophon on the verso of p.523.
