oil on canvas
- 75.5 by 75.5cm.; 29¾ by 29¾in.
Provenance
Acquired directly from the artist by the present owner in 1971
Condition
The original canvas is sound. There are stretcher marks around all four edges and spots of staining across the canvas. There are some very faint signs of early craquelure in the left-hand side of the white area of paint. There is a small hole in the upper right quadrant which has been repaired from the reverse. There is a small spot of paint loss in the centre of the painting near the lower edge. The surface is dirty and should benefit well from cleaning; otherwise the paint surface is stable.
Under ultraviolet light, there is some retouching to the above mentioned hole and certain spots flouresce which correspond with the above mentioned staining across the surface.
Unframed.
