Provenance
Sotheby's New York, 10 November 1986, Sale 5510, Lot 132
Exhibited
The Art Museum, Princeton University, In Celebration: Works of Art from the Collection of Princeton and Friends of the Art Museum, February - June 1997
Condition
This early, slightly warm-toned print, on matte surface, medium-weight paper, is in generally excellent condition. Visible upon close examination are a few tiny deposits of original retouching. In the upper right corner of the image, there is a 1- by ½-inch area that is slightly darker than the greater portion of sky; this appears to be in the negative and not a defect in the print. On the reverse of the print, there are a few light rust-colored stray marks.
On the left edge of the mount, there is a small grey-colored fingerprint. The green paper wrapper is crisp and clean, and the object quality of the whole - the print, the mount, and the wrapper - is unusually fine.
