sixth-plate daguerreotype, titled in gilt and red pigment on the plate, cased, 1850s

This charming daguerreotype is in fine condition, and sharp detail is visible on all the sitters, their clothing, and their faces. There is a tiny accretion of indeterminate nature present just above the right-most woman's brooch. This can only be seen properly under magnification. There is very minor tarnishing around the periphery of the plate, but this does nothing to obscure the image. 'News' is painted very carefully on the plate in gilt with red shadowing.
