  • Fusain noir et rouge, réhaussé de fusain blanc 

Condition

Laid down on old mount. An old diagonal fold across the upper right corner. The sheet is somewhat yellowed, and lighter at the margins, possibly where the paper was shielded from light. A very light stain at the lower right corner and some very slight discolouration along the right of the upper edge. The chalk is still strong. Sold in modern wood gilded frame.

Nous remercions Alastair Laing de nous avoir confirmé l'attribution à François Boucher sur la base d'une photographie.
Monsieur Laing compare ce dessin avec deux autres dessins de l'artiste, Etude pour huit têtes au Musée des Beaux-Arts, Orléans et Etude pour cinq têtes, passé dans la vente Oppenheimer chez Christie's à Londres, 10-14 juillet 1936, lot 4131 .
Il suppose que ces dessins à plusieurs visages, étaient courant à la fin de la carrière de Boucher.
