Description
- Virgin and Child
- gilt and polychromed wood
Condition
There are losses to the painted surface throughout, particularly in the drapery and the incarnate of the Child. Some patches of linen were used during production of the group to cover knots and splits. There is stable, naturally occurring splitting including along the back, the proper left side of the Virgin's face, at the sleeve on the proper left arm (which has been repaired with an insert of approx. 2.5 by 2.5cm.) and at the base. There are losses to the toes of the proper right foot of Christ and the edges of the base. The proper left arm of Christ has been replaced. The tips of the crowns were reattached. The proper right arm of Christ was probably carved separately. There are some minor chips along the edges of the drapery. There are a few wormholes.
