Condition
Relined. there is generally very nice retention of the paint surface on figure of Venus; some slight thinness to background foliage at left and right sides. an old repaired puncture can be seen in background just above head of putto at far right. under UV: retouching to tear mentioned above; another repaired puncture on her right foot (patched on the reverse); other scattered retouches throughout the background and sky. the figure of Venus looks mostly good with only a line of retouching which runs from her eye to temple, two areas on cheek, a retouch to upper portion of her raised arm, and a few tiny retouches to her body.
In an elaborately carved and gilt wood frame with some losses and nicks.
