Condition

Relined. paint surface is generally well retained with very good preservation of detail and nice impasto. some old discolored retouches can be seen with naked eye in dark background above skull. ultraviolet light reveals scattered small retouches in background in lower left corner, a few at lower right, and others scattered in white border around skull. a small area of retouching on upper part of rose. the top part of skull fluoresces, but this appears to be due to uneveness in the varnish rather than any repaint. painting is presentable and can be hung in its present state. In a plain brown wood frame with minor nicks.
