- oil on canvas
- 30 x 35 inches
Provenance
With Berry-Hill Galleries, New York, by 1957.
Condition
Relined and under a slightly dirty varnish. overall there is very good preservation of the paint surface and nice retention of detail throughout. there is a tiny loss in the painted wood "frame" at center left and some old retouches visible to naked eye in the "frame" at center right. under UV: scattered retouches as mentioned above; also a few retouches on notebook lower right, on bottom of letter center right, on some of the letters lower left ,and on paper at upper center. painting would benefit from a light cleaning and a readdressing of some of the old, discolored retouches which could be done better.
In a black wood frame with gilt inner and outer rim; some nicks and scratches.
