Description

  • Thomas Wijck
  • A family in an interior, with a young girl feeding a child in a cradle, a woman seated nearby
  • oil on panel

Condition

The actual painting is warmer and less green in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single panel is in good condition. The paint layer is secure though some areas of abrasion are apparent, particularly in the darker areas. No damages are apparent. Small scattered retouchings are visible to the naked eye, e.g. in the background, in the background figure, in the face of the young girl. The paint surface is under a fairly clear layer of varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals more extensive tiny retouchings throughout, in particular in the background. Offered in a decorative gilt plaster and wood frame with a few losses.
