Condition

Laid down on an early 20th Century solid board, which has caused the vellum to buckle at the lower edge. There are some worm holes, particularly at the lower right corner and centre of the lower edge. There is some slight discolouration at the upper part of the sheet and some tiny scratches to the surface, but overall the condition is fine.

Catalogue Note

Glockendon was a pupil of Dürer who is best known as an illustrator of illuminated manuscripts.  One of his finest works is the missal which he illustrated for Albert de Brandebourg, Cardinal of Mayence, now held in the library of Aschaffenburg.  Glockendon was the father of no fewer than twelve children, many of whom became artists and illuminators themselves.
