Condition

Sold in modern wood and gilt frame, glazed on both sides. The edges of the sheet are uneven. A brown stain at the lower left corner and some pale spot stains and innk-type stains on the verso. Otherwise the condition fine, the paper still strong blue and the chalk fresh.

Catalogue Note

The figure of a monk on the recto seems to be close to the eccentric style of Giulio Benso, which is more familiar in pen and ink than in chalk.
