Condition
Unframed. Laid down on old blue paper mount. The lower edge uneven. Some light foxing but otherwise the condition fine, the chalk strong.

Catalogue Note
The 1967 Sotheby's sale included six other studies of female nudes, all with the same provenance. They probably came from a sketchbook which may have been drawn in 1780-5 and are unusually intimate works.
