Description
- A kitchen still life with large gilt jug and plate, a lobster and a monkey stealing pastries. Figures drinking in a room beyond
- oil on canvas
Condition
The painting is less dark than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has an old relining which is still effective and has not flattened the paint surface as the impasto is well preserved in the details. The canvas is structurally sound. Abrasions can be made out with the naked eye upper peft, centre left, lowr left and to the monkey centre right. Scattered retouchings which have discoloured can also be made out with the naked eye in the monkey and in other areas. The canvas would greatly benefit from a clean and is offered in a wooden frame in fair condition.
