Description
- Jacopo Palma, called Il Giovane
- the meeting of joachim and anna
- Pen and brown ink and wash;
a fragmentary sketch of a figure in pen and brown ink, verso;
bears old attribution in pen and brown ink: Palma
Condition
Unframed. All four corners are missing and made up. On the verso are remains of strips of paper from where the drawing was once gripped. The drawing appears to be generally in good condition. A tiny pin-point red stain, lower centre. The pen and ink and wash are much stronger than the catalogue illustration, which is too gold-green in tone. The paper is also whiter. The drawing has been cut in the past at the upper edge and slightly to the right-hand side
